How to Fix App Store Won't Download Apps in macOS Tahoe 26.2
Is the App Store stuck on "Loading" or showing a spinning wheel when you click "Get"?
Follow Fix 1: The System Permissions Repair — full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions below. Verified on macOS Tahoe 26.2.
Recommended Troubleshooting Tool
Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Ideal for scanning disks for errors and clearing hidden system junk.
The Symptom
You try to download or update an app, but the progress circle never fills, or you get the "Sign in to complete purchase" loop.
The Fix
- Clear the App Store Cache
Terminal:
open $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.appstore/
Delete all files in this folder and restart the App Store.
- Reset the 'storeagent' Process
Terminal:
killall -9 appstoreagent
- Check System Date & Time
If your Mac's time is off by even a few minutes, the secure connection to the App Store will fail. Ensure "Set date and time automatically" is enabled in System Settings.
Fix 3: The System Permissions Repair
When the Mac App Store cannot write to the Applications folder due to permission errors.
Recommended Tool: CleanMyMac X
- Maintenance Module: Run "Repair Disk Permissions." This is the most common fix for App Store downloads that fail at the "Installing" stage.
- Uninstaller: Use this to reset the App Store app itself if it has become corrupted.
