The Symptom
The Handoff icon doesn't appear in the Dock, or the "Copy/Paste" between devices simply fails.
The Fix
- Reset the Bluetooth Sharing Daemon
sudo pkill sharingd
- Sign Out and Back Into iCloud
On your Mac, go to System Settings > Apple ID and Sign Out. Restart and Sign back in. This refreshes the security tokens used for Handoff.
- Check "BluetoothSharing" Plist
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothSharing.plist
Fix 3: The Automated Connectivity Reset
When the secure "Handoff" tokens are corrupted.
Handoff and Universal Clipboard rely on complex "Identity Services" that can fail silently.
Recommended Tool: CleanMyMac X
- Maintenance Module: Use the "Repair Disk Permissions" and "Flush DNS Cache" features. This helps ensure the local sharing daemons have the correct environment to communicate with other Apple devices.
- Optimization: Manage "Login Items" to ensure the sharingd and rapportd processes have the resources they need to run in the background.

Pro Tip
Handoff requires both devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network and within Bluetooth range (about 30 feet). Toggle Bluetooth OFF and ON on both devices simultaneously.
