Fix Guide: Private Wi-Fi Address Issues on macOS Sequoia

Symptom: Your Mac connects to Wi-Fi but has no internet, or you get a "Privacy Warning" in Wi-Fi settings. Some corporate or hotel networks may block your Mac entirely.

Why this happens

macOS Sequoia uses "Rotating Private Wi-Fi Addresses" to prevent tracking. Some routers use MAC address filtering or "sticky" IP assignments that break when your Mac changes its virtual identity.

Recommended Troubleshooting Tool

Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.

Fix 1: Disable Rotation for Specific Networks

  1. Open System Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Click Details... next to the network you are currently on.
  3. Find "Private Wi-Fi Address".
  4. Change it from "Rotating" to "Off" (for trusted home/office networks).
  5. Disconnect and reconnect to the Wi-Fi.

Fix 2: Renew DHCP Lease

  1. In the same Details... menu for your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Click TCP/IP in the sidebar.
  3. Click Renew DHCP Lease. This forces the router to assign a new IP to your current MAC address.

Recommended Tool: ClearVPN

If you are turning off private addresses for connectivity, you still need privacy.

- Use ClearVPN to encrypt your traffic and hide your real identity from the network owner, even when the native "Private Address" feature is disabled.
