Fix Guide: Sequoia USB-C Hub Ethernet Not Recognized
Symptom: You plug in a USB-C or Thunderbolt hub to your macOS Sequoia (15.x) machine, but the Ethernet port doesn't show up in Network settings or provide internet.
Why this happens
Sequoia includes new security restrictions for "Network Extensions." Additionally, many USB-to-Ethernet drivers (like Realtek or ASIX) were deprecated in the latest kernel update.
Recommended Troubleshooting Tool
Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.

Fix 1: Approve the Network Interface (Free)
Sequoia might be blocking the network driver.
- Go to System Settings
- Navigate to Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to 'Allow'
- Look for a message saying "System software from developer [X] was blocked." Click Allow.
- Restart
- You must restart for the driver to load.
Fix 2: Add Interface Manually (Free)
Sometimes the interface exists but isn't "Active."
- Go to System Settings > Network
- Click the three-dot icon (bottom right) and select "Add Service...".
- Select Interface
- Look for "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" or similar. Add it and click Apply.
Fix 3: Reinstall Driver (Special Case)
If your hub uses an ASIX or Realtek chip.
- Check System Report
- Go to About This Mac > More Info > System Report > USB.
- Find the Chipset
- If it's an older chipset, you may need to download the "DEXT" (Driver Extension) version of the driver from the manufacturer's website, as the old "KEXT" drivers no longer work in Sequoia.
Recommended Tool: Driver & Maintenance Check
Network issues in Sequoia often stem from outdated driver extensions. Ensure you check for the latest DEXT drivers from your hub manufacturer. Additionally, running a maintenance script to Flush DNS can help resolve "No Internet" issues even when the hardware is recognized.
