Fix Guide: Sequoia Universal Control "Side" Fix

Symptom: You can move your mouse to your iPad, but the cursor appears on the wrong side (e.g., you move right, but it appears on the left of the iPad).

Why this happens

macOS Sequoia sometimes fails to update the display arrangement metadata when you move your physical devices around, even if they look correct in System Settings.

Recommended Troubleshooting Tool

Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.

Fix 1: Reset Display Arrangement

  1. Go to System Settings > Displays.
  2. Click Arrange....
  3. Even if it looks correct, move the iPad icon to a completely different side, click Done, then go back and move it to the correct side.
  4. This forces a refresh of the WindowServer coordinate map.

Fix 2: Kill the Universal Control Daemon

If the cursor still jumps:

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Run:
killall UniversalControl
  1. The service will restart automatically and should detect the new physical orientation.

Recommended Tool: Luna Display

For a more professional and stable multi-monitor setup that doesn't suffer from Universal Control's software-based positioning bugs, Luna Display provides a hardware-accelerated connection.
