How to Fix Safari Web Extensions Not Loading in macOS Tahoe 26.2

Symptom: Your installed Safari extensions (AdBlockers, Password Managers) are enabled in settings but don't appear in the toolbar or function on macOS Tahoe.

TL;DR fix

Start with Fix 1: Reset Extension Permissions. If the issue persists after that, try Fix 2: Force Reload Safari Extensions. Full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions are in each section below.

Why this happens

Tahoe's "Sandboxing" service for web extensions can lose communication with the Safari binary after a system update.

Recommended Troubleshooting Tool

Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Excellent for clearing Safari caches, bloated databases, and stuck background processes.

Fix 1: Reset Extension Permissions

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Reset the TCC database for Safari (this resets permissions like Camera/Mic too):

tccutil reset All com.apple.Safari

Fix 2: Force Reload Safari Extensions

  1. Quit Safari.
  2. In Terminal:

rm ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/AppExtensions.cache

  1. Relaunch Safari.
