How to Fix Safari Shared with You Sync Loops in macOS Tahoe 26.2

Symptom: Safari on macOS Tahoe repeatedly cycles through "Shared with You" content, causing high CPU usage and missing links from the sidebar.

TL;DR fix

Start with Fix 1: Reset the Cloud Services Metadata. If the issue persists after that, try Fix 2: Re-toggle Shared with You in Messages. Full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions are in each section below.

Why this happens

A synchronization mismatch between the cloudmsh daemon and the Safari local database causes the sync process to restart indefinitely.

Recommended Troubleshooting Tool

Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Excellent for clearing Safari caches, bloated databases, and stuck background processes.

Fix 1: Reset the Cloud Services Metadata

  1. Quit Safari.
  2. Open Terminal.
  3. Reset the sharing metadata cache:

rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/SharingMetadata

  1. Restart your Mac.

Fix 2: Re-toggle Shared with You in Messages

  1. Open Messages settings.
  2. Go to the "Shared with You" tab.
  3. Uncheck Safari, wait 30 seconds, and check it again.
