How to Fix Safari Website Tracking Error in macOS Tahoe 26.2

Symptom: Safari on macOS Tahoe shows a "Your connection is not private" or "Website tracking prevented" error on almost every site, even trusted ones like Google or YouTube.

TL;DR fix

Start with Fix 1: Clear Safe Browsing Caches. If the issue persists after that, try Fix 2: Check System Date & Time. Full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions are in each section below.

Why this happens

The Tahoe 26.2 "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" engine can become overzealous if the local certificate store is out of sync or if the com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing daemon has a corrupted database.

Recommended Troubleshooting Tool

Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Excellent for clearing Safari caches, bloated databases, and stuck background processes.

Fix 1: Clear Safe Browsing Caches

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Run: rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing
  3. Restart Safari. This forces the browser to re-download the latest "safe site" definitions from Apple.

Fix 2: Check System Date & Time

  1. Go to System Settings > General > Date & Time.
  2. Ensure Set date and time automatically is toggled ON.
  3. An incorrect system clock is the most common cause of SSL/Tracking errors.

Recommended Tool: CleanMyMac

Privacy and tracking errors are often caused by old cookies and corrupted site data. Use CleanMyMac's Privacy feature to safely clear Safari's history, cookies, and local storage to give the tracking engine a fresh start.
