Fix Guide: iPhone Mirroring Black Screen on macOS Tahoe 26.2

Symptom: You launch the iPhone Mirroring app, the connection succeeds, but you see a black screen or a spinning loading indicator instead of your iPhone's home screen.

This is often caused by a conflict between the macOS video decoder and the iPhone's "Secure Video" stream, or a failure in the Screen Continuity authentication.

Fix 1: Reset iPhone Mirroring Permissions

Tahoe 26.2 may lose track of the iPhone's hardware ID in its privacy database.

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > iPhone Mirroring.
  2. Tap Edit and delete your Mac from the list.
  3. On your Mac, launch the iPhone Mirroring app again to trigger a fresh pairing.

Fix 2: Flush the Video Stream Cache

The remoted process handles the video encapsulation for mirroring. If the buffer is full, it displays black.

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Run the following command:
sudo killall remoted

Fix 3: Disable Private Wi-Fi Address for Mirroring

Mirroring relies on a local peer-to-peer connection. Randomized MAC addresses can interfere with the routing.

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the (i) next to your network.
  3. Toggle Private Wi-Fi Address to OFF (temporary test).
  4. Restart the Mirroring app on your Mac.

Ensure your iPhone is locked and nearby; the screen must be off for mirroring to display correctly on Tahoe.
