How to Fix iPhone Mirroring Auth Loop in macOS Sequoia 15.x
Symptom: When trying to start iPhone Mirroring on Sequoia, you are repeatedly asked to authenticate on your Mac, but the session never starts.
Start with Fix 1: Reset iPhone Mirroring Settings. If the issue persists after that, try Fix 2: Flush the Pairing Identity. Full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions are in each section below.
Why this happens
This "infinite auth" loop is usually caused by a desync between the Secure Enclave on the Mac and the iPhone's FaceID/Passcode state, often after a recent iOS update.
Recommended Troubleshooting Tool
Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.
Fix 1: Reset iPhone Mirroring Settings
- On your Mac, go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Find the iPhone Mirroring section.
- Toggle "Automatically Authenticate" OFF and then ON again.
- Try to connect again.
Fix 2: Flush the Pairing Identity
If toggling doesn't work, you need to force a new pairing:
- Open Terminal.
- Run this command to reset the mirroring daemon:
killall identityservicesd
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > iPhone Mirroring.
- Swipe left on your Mac's name and tap Delete.
- Restart the Mirroring app on your Mac to re-pair.
