The top menu bar disappeared, or icons are overlapping and unresponsive?

The Symptom

The Clock, Wi-Fi, and Battery icons are gone, or the menu bar is solid black/white with no text.

The Fix

  1. Force Restart SystemUIServer

This process controls the right side of the menu bar.

killall SystemUIServer
  1. Restart Control Center

In macOS Sequoia and Tahoe:

killall ControlCenter
  1. Reset Menu Bar Preferences
defaults delete com.apple.menuextra.clock
killall SystemUIServer

Pro Tip

If you use third-party menu bar managers (like Bartender or HiddenBar), disable them first. They often conflict with macOS Tahoe's new adaptive spacing.
