How to Fix Private Relay Not Compatible in macOS Sequoia 15.x
Symptom: macOS Sequoia displays an alert saying "iCloud Private Relay is not compatible with your network," even on standard home Wi-Fi.
Start with Fix 1: Flush DNS and Reset Network Stack. If the issue persists after that, try Fix 2: Toggle "Limit IP Address Tracking". Full Terminal commands and step-by-step instructions are in each section below.
Why this happens
This often occurs if your network uses custom DNS (like Pi-hole or AdGuard) or if the Sequoia network stack has cached a faulty MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) value.

- Run:
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
Fix 2: Toggle "Limit IP Address Tracking"
- Go to System Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Click Details next to your network.
- Toggle Limit IP address tracking OFF and then ON.
Recommended Tool: NordVPN
If Private Relay keeps failing:
- Get NordVPN for a more reliable encrypted browsing experience with dedicated servers that don't conflict with system settings as easily.
