Fix Guide: Window Tiling Not Working on macOS Sequoia
Symptom: You drag a window to the edge of the screen, but the new Sequoia window tiling (snapping) does not activate, or the green "hover" previews are missing.
Why this happens
Sequoia's native window tiling can conflict with 3rd party window managers (like Rectangle or Magnet). It can also be disabled by "Displays have separate Spaces" settings in Mission Control.
Recommended Troubleshooting Tool
Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.

Fix 1: Check System Settings
- Go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Scroll down to the Windows section.
- Ensure "Drag windows to screen edges to tile" is toggled ON.
- Ensure "Hold Option key while dragging to tile" is set to your preference.
Fix 2: Mission Control Reset
- Go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Find "Displays have separate Spaces".
- Toggle it OFF and then ON again (requires logout). This often fixes the window snapping engine.
Recommended Tool: Rectangle
If Sequoia's built-in tiling feels too limited:
- Get Rectangle (or Rectangle Pro) for much more powerful keyboard shortcuts and snapping zones that go beyond what Apple currently offers in Sequoia.
