Fix Guide: Tahoe Passwords App Sync Conflicts
Symptom: You save a password on your iPhone but it doesn't appear in the new Passwords app on macOS Tahoe (26.x), or you get "Conflicting Version" errors.
Why this happens
The standalone Passwords app in Tahoe uses a different sync architecture than the old Keychain. If the End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) handshake is interrupted, sync will stall for security.

Fix 1: Re-authenticate iCloud (Free)
Most sync issues are due to a "stale" security token.
- Go to System Settings
- Click your Apple ID > Password & Security.
- Check for Alerts
- If you see "Update Apple ID Settings," follow the prompts to re-enter your Mac password.
Fix 2: Force Keychain Resync (Free)
Manually trigger a sync update.
- Open Terminal
- Run:
killall identityservicesd
- Open Passwords App
- Open the Passwords app and pull down on the list (or wait 30 seconds) to see if it refreshes.
Fix 3: Reset Advanced Data Protection
If you use Advanced Data Protection.
- Toggle ADP
- If enabled, try turning it off and back on (requires all your devices to be present).
- Check 'Sync this Mac'
- In System Settings > [Name] > iCloud > Passwords, ensure "Sync this Mac" is explicitly checked.
Recommended Tool: 1Password
If you find the built-in Apple Passwords app too prone to sync conflicts, 1Password is the gold standard for cross-platform security. It offers a more robust sync engine and handles conflicts with detailed version history, ensuring you never lose a login.
