Fix Guide: Sequoia Widgets "Click to Open" Not Working
Symptom: You click on a widget in your Notification Center or on your Desktop, but the corresponding app refuses to open, or the widget just flickers and does nothing.
Why this happens
The chronod and WidgetCenter services in Sequoia can lose their "URL Scheme" handlers, meaning they no longer know how to trigger the main app when clicked.
Recommended Troubleshooting Tool
Before proceeding with manual fixes, we recommend using CleanMyMac X. Quickly identify high CPU apps and optimize system memory with one click.

Fix 1: Restart Widget Daemons
- Open Terminal.
- Run the following command:
killall chronod && killall WidgetCenter
- Wait 10 seconds, then try clicking your widgets again.
Fix 2: Re-add the Widget
- Right-click the broken widget and select Remove Widget.
- Open the Widget Gallery and add it back.
- This forces the widget to re-register its click handler with the system.
Recommended Tool: CleanMyMac
Widget data is stored in the "Caches" folder of your library. Use CleanMyMac to clear "User Cache Files" to resolve persistent widget unresponsiveness or graphical glitches.
