How to Fix Widgets Not Loading or Blank in macOS Sequoia 15.x
Symptom: Your desktop widgets or Notification Center widgets in macOS Sequoia (15.x) appear as blank squares, or show a "Loading…" message that never resolves.
TL;DR fix
Open Activity Monitor, search for chronod, select it, and click the X to Force Quit. Widgets disappear briefly then reload with fresh data. If they're still blank, go to System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Widgets and toggle Use iPhone widgets off, then back on.
Why this happens
Sequoia 15.x fetches widget data through a process called chronod. If your Mac's location services or iCloud "Find My" tokens are out of sync, the widget sandboxes lose access to the internet for security reasons.
Fix 1: Kill the Widget Daemon
- Open Activity Monitor.
- Search for
chronod. - Select it and click the X to "Force Quit."
- The widgets will disappear for a second and then reload with fresh data.
Fix 2: Toggle "Use iPhone Widgets"
If you are using iOS widgets on your Mac:
- Go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
- Scroll to the Widgets section.
- Toggle "Use iPhone widgets" OFF and then back ON. This forces a re-sync between your iPhone and Sequoia.
